MONSTER is built on chopped-up vocal samples long forgotten to the dilapidated corners of once classic lounges where longing eventually drowned out the fine details of our memories. It’s nostalgic, to be sure, but it’s not built on the kind of nostalgia that’s colors everything today with the aesthetics of decades passed. Instead of being recontextualized into our contemporary scope, MONSTER is isolated in time by the fog of memory surrounding it on all sides. Old sounds are presented as they were found, with all of their history and context intact.
